NEW! HEALTH ADVISORY: CDPH ADVISES PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS AGAINST MAKING OR FEEDING HOMEMADE INFANT FORMULA TO INFANTS The impacts of the ongoing pandemic and the recent 2022 Abbott recall of certain powdered infant formula have led to periodic location- and product-based shortages of major brands of infant formula. The infant formula supply chain disruptions have affected all infant formula consumers in the state of California; parents and caregivers may be seeking to increase dilution of existing formula or use homemade infant formula recipes to feed infants. Review the full State health advisory around infant formula and find resources here.
COVID-19 HOME TEST KITS The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency has received COVID-19 self-test kits from the state. Distribution criteria and distribution plans have been developed to ensure that those at the highest risk of illness and death from COVID-19 infection and those in low-income and underserved communities receive these kits. At-Home Testing Kits will be distributed based on the following criteria: 1. Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that are located in the health equity zip codes. The health equity metric measures the positivity rate in the most disproportionately impacted communities. 2. Agencies that provide services to individuals and families that earn an income of less than or equal to 200% of the Federal Income Guidelines (i.e., Medi-Cal, and State and Federally funded Head Starts and State Preschools). 3. Populations that have lower vaccination rates and higher rates of disease and deaths from COVID-19 (i.e., African American/Black, Hispanic, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander). 4. Rural areas with limited COVID-19 testing sites (i.e., Borrego Springs, Julian, Pine Valley, Potrero, Ramona, Valley Center). If you are an agency/organization interested in receiving kits, please email Lora at email@example.com or Flora at firstname.lastname@example.org.Events and WebinarsNEW!
